Case Facts: The Firm negotiated a settlement for the estate of an elderly gentleman who sustained 1st, 2nd & 3rd degree burns on his back and buttocks after sleeping through the night, heavily sedated, on a heating pad. The patient’s family alleged that the nursing staff of a local hospital failed to check the heating pad throughout the night and negligently continued to sedate the patient.
